Executing Effective Brand Strategy Through Social Media

COAMA logo

That is the title of the session that I will be co-presenting, along with David Sandusky, as part of the Colorado Chapter of the American Marketing Association's Knowledge Series. For the past three days I have been in Boston attending the 2009 Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education, which is an event of the American Marketing Association. Last Sunday I had the pleasure of helping open the conference by co-facilitating a session on internal branding. Next month I will continue to support the AMA by presenting at our Colorado Chapter event.

Over the course of the past few days of the Boston conference attendees had the chance to learn from others on related brand and social media topics. I am excited about showing participants how these emerging concepts need to be linked within the context of an organization. Like many concepts that create buzz, communications and marketing people have embraced brand and social media, but like other concepts in the past the organizations that they work for (and many of the people themselves) have not developed an effective brand strategy to determine how best to leverage digital media.

On December 1 at 5:00 pm David and I will provide the steps necessary to be strategic in connecting brand and social media. For anyone who might be interested in attending the event at the University of Denver, you can go to the Colorado AMA website and click on Knowledge Series from the Programs and Events drop down menu. I hope to see many brand champions there!
