Golfer Charley Hoffman: An Authentic Brand

Choffman
Have you seen this guy? If not, you should. He gets it. He understands what it means to be a brand champion. Not only did he win the Deutsche Bank Championship earlier in the week, he did in grand fashion. He brought home over $1 million U.S. and what many thought would be a spot on the coveted Ryder Cup team. Some guy named Tiger Woods beat him out.
What it wrong with this picture? A person who has not won a tournament this year and admits to a slew of infidelity situations, beats out a guy who is probably the most authentic brand on the tour. Hoffman has long hair and one of his major sponsors is Waste Management, which he proudly sports on his attire. Name a 21st century athlete who would want to be sponsored by a company that collects trash. I didn't think so.
I am a champion of the Charley Hoffman brand. Here is hoping he wins the FedExCup Championship and finishes first in the word rankings. Here is hoping Ryder Cup captain, Cory Pavin learns what an authentic brand means. The Ryder Cup is about team and country. It is about pride and success. It is not about style points.
